SUFFIELD HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADING SYSTEM AND POLICIES.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS: Students will know and apply skills, rules, and strategies of sport/physical fitness while demonstrating personal and social responsibility.
Dress Code: Students are required to dress appropriately for physical education classes. They must change into something other than what was worn to school. Sweat pants, shorts, sweat suits, tee shirts, sweatshirts, and sox with sneakers are acceptable. Students who are not prepared for class will not be allowed to participate on that day and will receive a grade of "1" for attending class.
Grading Policy: Each student can earn up to 10 points per class. They are graded on participation and application of skills, rules, and strategies, as well as, personal and social responsibility. Students unprepared for class will receive a grade of 1 point and the class cannot be made up.
Excused absences: must be made up during a study hall or after school in the fitness center. Make-ups should be made within two weeks of any classes missed. Students will receive a grade of "0" for each class missed.
Unexcused absences: cannot be made up and students will receive a "0" grade for each unexcused absence. Disciplinary action for unexcused absences will be handled by Administration.
Medicals: A "M" grade (medically excused/no credit) grade will be given to students who have been medically excused for 8 weeks of a marking period. Any student wishing t have such absences excused must bring a medical note, signed by their physician, and given to the school nurse and their teacher stating the time period they will be unable to participate in class.
