Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am pleased to share with you that the Suffield Board of Education, at a Special Meeting of June 16, 2014, appointed Steven Moccio as Principal of Suffield High School, effective July 7, 2014.

Mr. Moccio has a strong background in classroom teaching at the high school level, and is an experienced and talented school leader.  Mr. Moccio began his career as a high school Physics and Earth Science teacher at Windsor Public Schools, and after three years in that role he transitioned to Newington Public Schools to teach Physics at Newington High School for five years.  Mr. Moccio served as Assistant Principal of West Springfield High School for one year before joining Ellington Public Schools as the High School Assistant Principal.  Mr. Moccio is currently the Principal of Ellington’s Windermere Elementary and Intermediate School, where he has held that position for six years.

Mr. Moccio is passionate about the opportunity to return to work at the high school level and engage students, staff, and parents in powerful and positive learning experiences.  Mr. Moccio’s successful leadership record for the past 9 years at Ellington Public Schools is reflective of his strong communication skills, his accessibility to parents, children, and staff, and his unwavering commitment to see that all students are served.

Mr. Moccio will begin his work in the district on July 7, 2014 and his priority will be to begin establishing relationships with faculty, staff, students and parents.  I know that you join me in welcoming Mr. Moccio to the Suffield Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Karen Baldwin, Ed.D.
